A breathtakingly beautiful monastery built on the side of a cliff in the 6th century and rebuilt in the 19th, St. George is associated with many stories that could have happened anywhere in the desert.

Above all else, the monastery was part of the ring of constant prayer that protected the holy city from demonic attack. The Wadi in which the monastery is located is part of the old road to Jericho, the true backdrop to the Samaritan story.
