On Thursday, 30 June 2011, Tel Aviv will hold its annual White Night celebrations, with numerous events throughout the city from 21:00 through to sunrise the following morning. The White Night celebrations commemorate the July 2003 UNESCO designation of the White City of Tel Aviv, with its exceptional collection of Bauhaus architecture, as a World Heritage site and the city’s well-deserved reputation as the city that never sleeps.
50 Bauhaus buildings along Rothschild Boulevard and Bialik Street will be illuminated. The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Tourism Association will run special guided tours and many restaurants and bars will offer special White Night menus and deals. In addition, cultural and entertainment institutions will remain open through the small hours, many offering free or reduced admission.
Countless performances throughout town include, among many others,
· musical performances and street theater along Rothschild boulevard (21:00-01:00)
· Seventies-style jazz on Ben-Gurion boulevard (21:00-01:00)
· Giant happening with music, street theater and more at the flea market in Jaffa (from 20:00)
· Community singing and jazz at the Tachana (the original Tel Aviv-Jaffa train station) from 21:00-24:00
· Sunrise concert with Israeli singers Mati Caspi and Shlomo Gronich at the Tzuk Beach (from 01:30)
· Sunrise Yoga activities t the Tel Aviv Port (from 05:30)
· Israeli folk dancing at Gordon Beach (21:00 – 01:00)
· Marathon of independent rock bands outside the Tel Aviv Museum (19:00 – 24:00)
· Beach concert at Banana Beach (from 21:00
· Sound and light installation along Bialik Street (19:00 – 24:00)
· Kobi Oz will sing songs with a Jewish theme at the Haharon Garden in the Gan HaHashmal district (from 21:00)
· Concerts with Jewish music at the Great Synagogue and the Ohel Moed Synagogue (both at 21:30.
